Our Mission is to Tackle Socio-economic Challenges in our Community Through Theatre and Film

Who We Are:

Twaweza Nation Initiative is a dynamic Community-Based Organization (CBO) dedicated to creating positive change in communities through the powerful mediums of theatre and film. We believe in the power of storytelling, performance, and visual arts to educate, inspire, and empower individuals to take action toward improving their lives and communities.

Our approach is centered on participatory engagement, where community members not only witness but also become active contributors in the process of learning and transformation.

What We Do:

School based programs

We visit schools to have theatre forums addressing pertinent school based issues i.e teenage pregnancy,behavioral change,mental health,hygiene,sexual reproductive health,peer counseling among other issues where we get to interact with the students and share their experiences in and out of school.

Sensitization and Awareness creation

Twaweza Nation Initiative is indebted in creating awareness and sensitizing the community on critical issues affecting them i.e sexual reproductive health,HIV/AIDS,maternal health,environmental care, human rights among other things through public participation forums, theatre and film presentations.

Advocacy

We carry out theatre advocacy among the key population i.e fishing community where we rally for better treatment by the fishing officials,Beach Management Units (B.M.U's) mandate in ensuring the safety of the fishermen,equitable access to healthcare among other issues faced by this community.We also advocate for girl rights and champion for GBV free communities

Theatre for development trainings

As an organization that believes in theatre and film as the best way of modern communication,Twaweza Nation Initiative trains groups and community members on how to use this tool as a mirror of the society to address their internal and external issues.
